Producer Phillip Rosser and writing partner Damien Higginbottom are forming a play in Sydney, Australia about rapper Kanye West’s life. It will be a musical that tells the story about West’s early life and career success. Producer Phillip Rosser says “I’m a big Kanye fan. I thought that a musical in his honour would be a lot of fun to put on. I really just meant the show to be something fun for my friends to see, and I’m pretty excited by all the attention it’s been getting.”
The play will be staged 09/05 /-09/07/2011 as part of Sydney’s Verge Festival next month.
Wow, I wonder what the turn out will be and if they will bring it to the states.
Keyshia Cole’s sister Neffie from her show The Way It Is and then the spin off the Frankie and Neffie show, just cashed in on what looks may be a lucretive deal. Her boyfriend Sollow is now co-owner of the re-opened Jimiz Lounge on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna, GA. Apparently Sollow was visiting the club and started giving ideas to the owners Carl and Chris, which led to a co-ownership. The best part is that now Bravo wants to make it a reality show! Its suppose to focus on the stereotypes of gay people and black people?….okaaaay….anywho I am glad Neffie and Sollow have invested their money.
In the upcoming October/November Vibe issue, Wayne discussed his diss record to Jigga. For all of you who thought neither one of them were taking shots at eachother…..read what he says below
“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did. I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”
Well it seems that Weezy is prepared for battle…..Jay Z lost to Ether by Nas back in the day…..what will you come back with now Sean Carter?….I wonder how Beyonce feels…
“I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record]. I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is.
Sooooooo this morning while driving to the office I hear a leaked version of a song from Lil Wayne’s Carter 4. The song is called “It’s Good” and it features Jadakiss and Drake. First off the beat is so melodic and it makes you fine tune your ear to the words. So it starts with Jada on the verse his was no shot to Jay Z but he rode the beat (no homo). Then Drake was the prelude to Wayne. He took a couple shots at Jay Z saying he getting too comfortable in the music biz and YMCM is still hungry…maybe he is telling Jay to watch out? Honestly seeing that Jay Z started in his 20’s and still is rapping in his 40’s and still able to say he is the best rapper….so Drake I think he has earned the right to be “comfortable”.
I think Jay is too old to be having a music beef, I mean he did that so long ago with Nas, now he is corporate status. Now this has gotten personal…who know’s what he is going to come back saying. I think its about to get ugly ladies and gentlemen.
I guess he addressed Baby saying that he was tired of Jay Z and that they have more money than him etc… so Jay did HAM and said that quote above….but is it really necessary when you are the status you worked hard for? I mean Baby got money but he dont have Jay Z money, EVERYONE knows that…so why start taking shots. You already doing interviews saying look at your bank statements. He is a legend, an icon, why go backwards in your career. Thats my personal opinion; dude almost 45 and will be 50 soon…it should be beneath him. But I cannot deny….the music that will come from the beef it sounds like its going to be some good music. I will surely purchase that Carter 4.
Nivea (the company not the singer) has had some controversial ads out and I think I a lot of people are offended. More so black people. The irony behind it is that a black man was behind the ad….and if you think about it…he kind of makes sense. His aim says he wanted black men to care more about their appearance than walking around with nappy hair. Appearance is one of the reasons black men don’t get half the jobs they apply for. You really do have to look like “you give a damn!”. But of course you cant just put that out there on a billboard or magazine ad and expect people to take it lightly. What he should have done was start a campaign like Marlon Wayans did for fresh breath with Dentyne Ice. He should have had a reason behind to explain what the campaign represents. Trying to get the black man to give a damn so he can get where he needs to be in life. Nivea released an apology: “Thank you for caring enough to give us your feedback about the recent “Re-civilized” NIVEA FOR MEN ad. This ad was inappropriate and offensive. It was never our intention to offend anyone, and for this we are deeply sorry. This ad will never be used again. Diversity and equal opportunity are crucial values of our company”.
Now here is where it gets tricky….there is a “white” version of the ad showing a white man (see below)…Is that racist too?
On Saturday August 20th media whore Kim Kardashian and free agent NBA (for some reason I thought he was a soccer player) star Kris Humphries tied the knot in California. There were 450 guests in attendance such as La La and Carmello Anthony, Ciara and Amare Stoudemire, Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest, Lindsay Lohan?, and many more. Kim looked beautiful in her Vera Wang gown. Her bridal party was black and white with a little hint of pink splashed in places. They held a reception that was later told could not have any music because the neighbors complained about the dj. Check out the pics below.
Detroit Stand UP! Rolling Stone has put together a list of who they think are the top rappers in hip hop right now. It was based on lyrics, album AND ticket sales. I am proud they let him get his shine without people bashing on him being white in hip hop. He is more real and has lyrics sicker than some black emcees. White, Black, Purple or Blue…Em got skills and he showed us that a long time ago. He showed us that he could ruin your career and is not to be messed with in a rap beef. L.A. Rapper the Game let it be known that out of EVERYONE who he had beef with at Aftermath and Interscope…he NEVER took shots at Eminem because he knows he is not to be messed with. Check out the list below and see who else made the cut!
