Remember Us? Christine Beatty & Sara Stokes Will Be Apart Of A DocuSeries Produced By Queen LaTifah & Nicci Gilbert

Whether you watched it on tv, or heard about it in the paper, you should be familiar with Christine Beatty and Sarah Stokes. Both Detroit natives who have appeared in the headlines with negative stories. Christine Beatty was hired as chief of staff for then mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick.  She was caught up in the Kwame Kilpatrick whistle blower scandal. She served 69 days of the 120 day sentence for lying under oath about having an affair with the ex mayor of Detroit.

Sarah Stokes was introduced to the world by competing on a reality show called “Making The Band” that aired on MTV. Music mogul Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs went on the search for contestants, and Sarah Stokes made the cut. She and a few other contestants formed the group “Da Band”.

The life of “Da Band” was short lived. Stokes seemed to drop out of sight, until she made head lines for being arrested for assaulting her husband/manager. She was arrested multiple times regarding altercations with her husband. One included stabbing him.

The series the women will be featured on is called “From The Bottom Up”. These two women will get to tell their stories their way as cameras follow them showing how they try to make their way back to the top.  The show was created by former R&B Diva and Brownstone member Nicci Gilbert, and will be jointly produced by Queen LaTifah’s company ‘Flava Unit’. Nicci Gilbert spoke to Jasmine Brand about the show and what it is really all about. She says,

“It’s a docu-series and it follows women who are very successful. It’s a group of women who alot ofpeople will be very familiar with and they were very successful and some situation occurred in their lives and everything literally fell apart. These are women who have done jail time. These are women who lost their families, very serious repercussions from their decisions. This show is following them literally going from the top to the bottom and back to the top. Which is my life story for the past few years.”

Wait…did Nicci Gilbert do jail time? Let me find out!

The show will also follow Chrystale Wilson who played Ronnie in Players Club, Kim Smedley who gave illegal butt injections, and Staci Jae Johnson who worked for Mayor Reed and obtain a DUI. The show will begin taping next month and set to air in 2015.

It should be interesting. Will you be watching?
