On Sunday I was able to attend a networking event called “Ladies Who Brunch: Hollywood Glam Seminar” which was hosted by Bianca of Sassy Mitchell Hair and Dayy Bella of Bella Bar Tee’s. Ladies Who Brunch ATL brought the first LA edition of their networking soiree, and Web Celeb Daily was there!  The event had guest speakers which included celebrity make up artist Shayla Mitchell, celebrity stylist Olori Swank, promoter Miss Diddy (featured on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood), and branding goddess Karen Civil.

The event was phenomenal! The food was delicious and included a breakfast bar, dessert bar, cotton candy and popcorn station, photo booth, the decor was set up so exquisitely, and most importantly, with over a hundred women in one room…we all got along!

Being new to LA, I thought it was very necessary to go to this event. I usually don’t even think about going to events by myself, but it proved to me how much I have grown. I was able to meet like minded black business women who will not settle for mediocre.

One of the highlights of the event was the discussion panel. We were able to hear each of the panelists stories on how they got started. Shayla Mitchell says that if it wasn’t for Instagram, she would still be the girl at the MAC counter. Olori Swank was in school to be a doctor. She dropped out of school, moved to Cali with 500.00 and slept on her friend’s couch. She sold her clothes for money and then she got her big break by being asked to style her first celeb. Miss Diddy told us that she was asked to get people to come to some parties and they would pay her for it. She said she got her friends together and made a street team, and was able to get celebs like Baron Davis to come to the party, from that day she made it her business.

Karen talked about how she started off as an intern for Funk Master Flexx, who didn’t even know her name for an entire year. She said she tried to help build his brand but he wasn’t hearing it. She then went to work with people but they didn’t have the same vision. Now those same people are paying her for what she tried to do free for them. She spoke about not wasting time with a company that is not investing back into you, and the importance of investing in yourself. All of the components she gave says is how she just made her first million dollars. Here is a video clip of her speaking. Take a look.

Miss Diddy was also a highlight informing us that she is the ONLY female promoter in LA. She spoke about sacrifice being important for your brand/company to be successful. She spoke about the importance of healthy competition, and demanding success. Miss Diddy is loved by everyone in the industry, and she was even able to get Mona Scott Young to allow Myx Fusions to sponsor the event.

I took home a lot of vital information, as well as a few goodies in our gift bags. I recommend that all female entrepreneur’s attend their events because of the knowledge you receive, as well as the networking opportunity. It was a lot of power in that room and I was glad to be apart of it.

Kudos to Bianca and Dayy, this event was a success.

R&B singer Elle Varner also stopped by and showed love to Karen Civil and to promote her new albumphoto 2.
