TBT: Remember TGIF & One Saturday Morning?

Remember what it was like to come home from school on Fridays? You knew you didn’t have school the next day. Some of your favorite shows came on that you probably watched them with your family.

Remember waking up on Saturday morning as kid? You would either wake up to hot breakfast, or you would grab a bowl of cereal and sit in front of the television and watch cartoons. Aaahhhhh…those were the days.

Let’s revisit those days shall we?

I don’t know about you, but I feel like time blew past too fast. I mean now we are grown with our kids, and we have jobs we hate, and bills we hate to pay.

Today we remember a more simple time in life…you know…before responsibility kicked in. Two  tv show blocks that made their stamp on my childhood was TGIF on ABC and  Disney’s One Saturday Morning. On Friday we had wholesome family shows that our parent’s approved of. Saturday, it was full of new shows, cartoons and entertainment, and it made you look forward to the weekend.

Remember Family Matters? This was the go to tv family before Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It had comedy, and story lines we could relate to. Remember the episode when Laura got up and did the cheer with “Doo ya doo ya!”? Take a look.

What about Boy Meets World? I still find myself watching the reruns that air today. It was a show about middle school, mischief and young romance.

Hangin With Mr. Cooper was another family favorite. It even introduced us to actors like Don Cheadle and Omar Gooding.

Another one of my favorite shows was Step By Step.

Okay let’s take it to Saturday Morning. When you saw this intro you knew you were going to be consumed for a few hours.

I think One Saturday Morning had to be one of Disney’s greatest creations. The shows they had back then were everything. Everybody wish they had a crew like the kids from Recess. What about PepperAnn, The Weekenders, the revamped version of Doug, and so many more!

For a little extra nostalgia here are a few commercial breaks from back then.

For those old enough, do you remember the cartoons that came on right before One Saturday Morning?  Like Mr. Bumpy, Reboot, or The Mighty Ducks?

This definitely took me back. I hope you enjoyed this walk down memory lane. I will now let you get back to reality. Anytime you need a mental break just head over to YouTube and let the 90’s take you away.
