Uncle Snoop Dogg set Instagram blazing with his videos posted earlier Tuesday morning about the former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Snoop was pissed because he found out Schwarzenegger released a convicted killer from prison to help a friend. Listen to why this has Snoop pissed off.
Now here is the back story to this. A former California lawmaker Fabian Nunez asked Schwarzenegger to do him a solid and release his son from prison. Esteban Nunez plead guilty to manslaughter in the fatal 2008 stabbing of Luis Santos. While attending San Diego State University, Nunez and his friend Ryan Jett attacked Santos after Santos rejected them at a fraternity party. One of the two men stabbed Santos in the heart.
With the two facing life in prison, they both plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault for less time served. Both men were sentenced to 16 years.
On Schwarzenegger’s last day in office back in 2011, Fabian Nunez called and asked the then governor to cut his son’s sentence in half.
“I used my relationship with the governor to help my own son,” the elder Nuñez admitted. “I’d do it again.”
Schwarzenegger attempted to justify his actions by saying Nunez had no prior record, but his friend Jett did. He also made it clear though he did it to help his friend. “Of course, you help a friend,” Schwarzenegger said. Ryan Jett must serve the rest of his sentence.
Snoop had a few more words for Schwarzenegger.
Now Snoop has a very good point. A black man such as Tookie Williams would never be able to be pardoned and released. Tookie was a former gang member who turned his life around and became an anti-violence advocate and writer of children’s books which got him nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
His legal team had many years worth of proof showing he turned his life around, and hadn’t even gotten into trouble while in prison for over 20 years, but Schwarzenegger denied Tookie’s request for clemency stating it was based on “totality of circumstances”.
Former Detroit Mayor laundered money but killed no one, and is serving 28 years for it. It has been stated that government officials have no plans or granting him any early release despite his appeals.
