Philando Castile was shot by a Minnesota police officer after he attempted to reach for his ID. The incident was captured by Castile’s girlfriend Diamond Reynolds.
Diamond Reynolds and Philando Castle were pulled over for a busted tail light in Falcon Heights, a St. Paul suburb. The cop asked Castile to see his ID. Castile admitted he had a gun in his pocket but was reaching for his wallet. Reynolds says the cop then shot Castile 4 to 5 times. All of this happened while Reynolds was recording on Facebook live. Take a look at this video. It is graphic so please brace yourself.
At the end of the video, you see the cop handcuffs Diamond and puts her and her daughter in the back of the police car.
Reynolds states there was no reason for the shooting. Castile was a cafeteria supervisor at a Montessori school. He was licensed to carry his firearm. That cop saw he was putting his hands up, and shot him multiple times.
Reynolds was questioned at the police station, but reports claim she was let go.
I am truly at loss for words, heart broken and frustrated. Within 3 days 3 black men are killed by police officers. What are we going to do about it? Are we to just go about our day? We have got to get together and take a plan of action, because one of our kids, brother’s, husbands, etc… could be next.
We will keep you updated as this story develops.
