1967 Detroit Riot Story Coming To The Big Screen.

The 1967 riot in Detroit, MI was of the deadliest and most destructive riots in the history of the United States. On August 4th its story will hit the big screen in new film titled ‘DETROIT’.

It all started around 3:45 a.m.  on Sunday, July 23, 1967, when an after hours club called, ‘The Blind Pig’ was raided. 82 black people were found celebrating the return of 2 soldiers return from the Vietnam war. The Detroit police confronted patrons and observers during the raid, which turned into chaos on the streets. The result was over 7,200 arrests, 43 dead, 1,189 injured,  and more than 2,000 buildings destroyed.

The movie stars Anthony Mackie, Jacob Latimore, John Krasinski and more. Take a look.

 

This is an important piece of history being told. Everyone should go see it.
