Funny man and legendary talk show host Arsenio Hall is leaving the talk show game once again. CBS has announced that the show has been canceled. Arsenio Hall had his own show once before which aired 1989-1994, and the ratings were amazing. The show was brought back to life last year but unfortunately the ratings were not good enough. “Unfortunately, ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ will not return for a second season. While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue. Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for the support of the show.”
The show allowed some A list celebrities to come on the show, but also some who were not as main stream to be seen and heard. They say he needed more A lists to stay on air. That makes it harder for the celeb’s up and coming to get their faces out there on a mainstream circuit.
Hall has made a statement, and he does not sound upset or bitter at all.
“When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribute, we all knew it would be a challenge — I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible each night.”
Does this mean they are looking to take their talents elsewhere? I could see it on BET but I feel that would water down his platform. BET is definitely not ran like it used to be. Hopefully it can get picked back up. I enjoyed it.
