Pharell Pisses Off Native Americans

Well it looks like the forever young Neptune is upsetting people once again. A few months ago he pissed off black women for not having any black women on his cover for his album ‘Girl’. Then he was in the headlines for having a black woman on the cover of his single ‘Marilyn Monroe’ . Well now he is in the hot seat with Native Americans over this photo above. Elle Magazine decided that it would be a great idea for Pharrell to ditch his Vivenne Westhood hat for a tribal Native American head piece. Needless to say, Native Americans are offended. Allegedly Pharrell himself has Indian and Egyptian heritage so he did not feel he was doing anything offensive. He did however issue an apology.  He told E! news “I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry.” 

People are calling him racist and saying he is using his celebrity fame to mock the native people. Is  this the same as white people in black face? What about when people dress up like Indians as a costume? I was in a Phoenix airport and they were selling a tribal piece very similar to that, was that frowned upon for selling it? What do you think? No matter what you do someone is gong to be unhappy. Clearly Elle didn’t do their homework on the piece to find out that it was sacred.
