It seems families cannot be pleased when it comes to making a film about their famous loved ones. I know the Richard Pryor movie has been in the works for some time now. Comedian Mike Epps was initially set to portray the legend but he fell out with the family, particularly Richard’ daughter Rain. Now it seems Nick Cannon has been brought on to possibly play the part, but once again, the family is not happy. Nick recently sat down with TMZ to discuss the movie. Read the interview below.
“There have been a lot of people out there who have discussed playing this role and been in the works. I never wanna jinx anything because y’all know how movies work. If it’s not in production, it’s not real so. All I’m saying is that I’m doing the work right now. I’m doing everything that I need to do embody it when the opportunity is right. I don’t wanna be one of those actors who says, ‘Oh, I’m out here doing it,’ but then you never see the film.”
Richard’s children Richard Jr. and Rain Prior feel that Nick does not have what it takes to play their dad. Pryor’s children also feel that their stepmother Jennifer Pryor is attempting to make the film a “vanity project”. They do not want her to twist Pryor’s life story to make herself look more favorable. Richard Jr and Rain reportedly want Marlon Wayans to play their father.
