Today’s artist spotlight is shining on a Florida native that goes by the name of Tre Side Cool. In the face of shrinking budgets, music executives are in search of the next YouTube sensation with a catchy hook & dance moves in order to amass digital single sales. While many artists have tried to break through despite an industry melt down, few have been met with critical praise. And the applause for those that have has not been loud enough to sway the course of the current rap market. Looking to excel where his contemporaries have failed, this Florida native brings promise of a new day in hip hop music. Treside Cool, born Tony Wilson, got his start in music at an early age by attending local shows with his father, who managed several local artists. Coming from Polk County, Florida (nicknamed Treside), a city whose rap spectrum is oblivious, Treside Cool didn’t necessarily have to create a style that stood out. Since an adolescent he has been labeled as a smooth & charismatic individual. At the age of 22 he decided to attend audio school in Orlando to become an engineer. While focusing on his newfound craft he also realized he has a knack for writing. Many of his friends & other local artists would come to him for hooks & musical ideas, & being the person he is he would do everything he could to help. His humble & laid-back demeanor attracted people from all over who wanted to help him succeed. A lot of people would ask if he rapped & he always responded no until one day he began writing music of his own. Initially, vocally his music wasn’t that appealing so he decided to take a break from recording & concentrate on writing. After refining his sound, Treside Cool is prepared is to drop his debut EP “Stuck In My Ways”. A combination up of distinct, flamboyant lyrics, raw, prototypical production & an endless range of topics such as being involved with women who are already taken to the seemingly endless plight of those have-nots scrapping for change. Promising to mesh his swag rap talents with lyrical dexterity, Treside Cool is ushering in a new sound & look to Florida hip-hop if not hip-hop in general.
With such a diverse display, Treside Cool is poised to wake up a dormant industry & cement his name in this game. But more than that, with his debut EP currently in production, he hopes to change the tide of current rap music, swaying it in a more insightful, meaningful & passionate direction. Whether it’s his style, attitude or his musical maneuvering, he definitely plans on making his mark in the music world.
