Another day, another racist rant. In one of the Sony leaked emails, one of them included a statement that suggested Idris Elba be brought on for a new version of James Bond. Rush Limbaugh however went on a rant to explain that James Bond was created for a white man and should stay that way. He then gives asks what would people think if George Clooney and Kate Hudson were to play Barack and Michelle O’Bama. Listen to his full point of view.

Okay, so he thinks it is ridiculous for a black man to be James Bond because he was written as a white man. However, it is okay and accepted for Christian Bale to portray Moses in the Exodus film. They had no black people in the movie at all. The creator of the movie is quoted saying:
“Like most high-profile religious pictures since Martin Scorsese’s 1988 “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “Exodus” became the subject of intense media scrutiny before Scott had ever exposed a frame of (digital) film on stages at London’s Pinewood Studios and on location in Spain. Much of the outcry online stemmed from his decision to cast white American, European and Australian actors in most of the key roles, no matter that the same could be said of “The Passion of the Christ,” “Noah,” “The Ten Commandments” and virtually any other big-budget Bible movies. “I can’t mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such,” Scott says. “I’m just not going to get it financed. So the question doesn’t even come up.”
So you can change the race when it comes to films like this, but a fictional character can’t be rewritten if they were made white. Then to say something as stupid as George Clooney playing Barack O’bama in a film about his life. I’m not even going to entertain that ignorance.
I saw on my social media page that people were mad about creating a black Annie. People said the same thing about the character being written as a white red head girl. Is the real issue that they think a black actor may do the job better? When will we get our credit due? Slave movies are still the only ones bringing in the awards it seems. Quite frankly, I am over the slave movies, the maid movies, the butler movies. It’s been done too many times. Rush Limbaugh has no issues with that of course.
I think Idris Elba would slay the role of James Bond. He has the physique for the role, and he is a ladies man, and a damn good actor.
