According to police, a junior attending Clark Atlanta University, was murdered after he replied to an ad for an iPhone 6 on Craigslist.
21 year old James Jones Jr., responded to the ad on Monday night in the city of Marietta, GA. He was shot while sitting in his car. After the shot, the car moved forward and hit another car and a tree.
Officer David Baldwin says, “It was an illegitimate ad he was responding to and he did not know the sellers”. “The ad was posted in the hopes to lure somebody in, but obviously the victim didn’t know that.”
Three men were taken into custody on Tuesday. Jordan Baker, 18; Jonathon Myles, 19; and Kaylnn Ruthenberg, 21 were all charged with felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault. Their bond has been denied by the judge.
A rep from Clark Atlanta says that James, a Florida native, was studying chemistry and maintained a 3.06 gpa. The school released a statement saying, “Mr. Jones was a serious scholar and a kind, engaging spirit whose work and comportment spoke well of the university’s core values and those instilled long ago by those contributing to his upbringing. In addition to his studies, he was a UPS scholar at Fickett Elementary School and a science mentor for the HBCU Rising Cares Mentoring program at Brown Middle School. He also was an amateur athlete.“
This is just sad. This young man was close to getting his degree and possibly becoming someone great, and instead he was murdered for nothing.

Craig’s list should be dismantled, it’s just a haven for criminals. Too many innocent people are being killed for no reason.
