Drake released the secret album/mixtape “If Youre Reading This Its Too Late” last week, and in just 3 days sold over 500,000 units. He also broke the record on Spotify for having 17.3 million downloads. While Drake is basking in the success of his release, there is talk going around that Drake may be close to fulfilling his alleged 4 or 5 album contract with Young Money. Is he ready to leave?
Did Drake pull a power move to make sure he is close to leaving YM? Drake has branched off and created his own label called OVO (Octobers Very Own), so wanting his freedom may not be that farfetched.
Drake has moved major units since his debut on Cash Money in 2009. He has had chart topping albums, he’s gone platinum, number 1 singles…Drake is winning. He has the formula to make good music. Whether people want to admit it or not.
I’m wondering if this has been in the works, or is this because of Wayne’s lawsuit with Birdman.
Could he want to go to another label, or maybe go independent? I guess we have to wait and see.
