Darren Sharper is a former NFL star that has been convicted of being a serial rapist. He will serve 9 years in prison for raping women in Arizona, Nevada, California and Texas. Despite his actions, he will STILL be able to be inducted in the Hall of Fame if he receives enough votes.
According to the VP of the election process, there aren’t any rules in the bylaws that can keep a convicted criminal from being inducted. As long as the player has been out of the league for 5 years and has made at least 1 All-Pro team he is eligible.
Sharper last played in 2010 so he is eligible as early as next year.
The VP also said that voters probably will take into consideration what he did, although they are not supposed to. He deserves nothing but a jail cell. Not a shrine in the hall of fame.
Would they induct Aaron Hernandez?
