Cookie and Lucious’ boys are doing big things! Trai Byers, Bryshere Gray and Jussie Smollet grace the June cover of Essence Magazine. The pictures came out so great that Essence decided to 4 covers.
The 3 Empire stars also reveal some things about themselves like one of them almost becoming a pastor, to the other meeting Lee Daniels through Instagram.

Jussie Smollet on how he ended up with an audition for Jamal Lyon:
“I jumped on Instagram and direct-messaged Lee and said, ‘Sir, I know you get this all the time, but I’m a singer, actor, dancer, songwriter and musician. I am Jamal Lyon in more ways than one.'”
Trai Byers reveals why he works out and cares about his appearance so much:
“I work out for two reasons: one, because I’m an actor and two, because I’m somebody’s [future] husband. I want to be prepared for the woman God has for me.”
Bryshere Gray aka Yazz revealed he wanted to be in the NFL, but due to an injury was unable to follow through. He also talks about being a mentor to the youth.
“I would hear things like, ‘My dad was never in my life…’ and my response was, ‘My dad was never in my life…Don’t feel like you don’t matter.'”
