In the 90’s the movie ‘Space Jam’ was a big hit. Crossing Looney Tunes and Michael Jordan was more than just epic for the kid of that time. Now Warner Brothers has confirmed that there will be a sequel and taking Jordan’s place will be Cleveland Cavaliers player LeBron James.
It started as a rumour but has been confirmed. The writer of Fast & Furious 6 & Star Trek Beyond, Justin Lin will be co-writing the script for Warner Brothers to make this sequel a hit. LeBron James seemed to be the only consideration for the leading role. It was his role in the move ‘Trainwreck’ that sealed the deal.
Being that I was that kid who loved Space Jam, it’s hard for me to jump all the way on board with this idea. Not all movies need a sequel because you cannot always rewrite greatness. Kobe could’ve been an option, but I agree that LeBron fits the bill for the look of the movie better than Bryant.
I guess we have to wait and see a trailer to see if this will be a ‘Straight To DVD’ or a box office hit.
