Do you have kids? If so I’m pretty sure they’re asking you to take them to go see Captain Underpants in 3D.
Who is Captain Underpants you ask, well he’s not your typical superhero that’s for sure. Captain Underpants is a children’s novel series by American author and illustrator Dav Pilkey. The series revolves around two fourth graders, George Beard and Harold Hutchins, living in Piqua, Ohio, and Captain Underpants, an aptly named superhero from one of the boys’ homemade comic books, that accidentally becomes real when George and Harold hypnotize their ill-tempered principal, Mr. Krupp. Soon after, Mr. Krupp gains superpowers by drinking alien juices.

Dreamworks did a fantastic job with the animation in this first installment to the Captain Underpants movie series, and cast great actors such as Kevin Hart who plays as George Beard, a fourth grade student and best friend to Harold. Kevin, aka George writes stories for the comics he and Harold make. Harold Hutchins is played by Thomas Middleditch, a fourth grade student who illustrates for the comics he and George make.
QUICK PLOT
George Beard and Harold Hutchins are two fourth-grade friends and next-door neighbors who often bring joy to their school, Jerome Horwitz Elementary School, by excessively pranking the cruel teachers, especially the mean Principal Benjamin “Benny” Krupp, which puts them at odds with him. The duo also create comic books about a superhero named Captain Underpants, a character who has superpowers and wears underwear and a cape. They sell these to their schoolmates through a comic company called Treehouse Comix Inc, housed in their treehouse.
This film set a budget of $38 million and has already grossed $24.3 million in the box office to date. I think it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing more of Captain Underpants and his trusted sidekicks George, and Harold in future adventures.
