Tyler Perry admits to financially supporting the man who abused him as a child because his mother asked him to.
He recently admitted on Oprah’s Master Class that he felt obligated to provide food and shelter to the man who made his childhood horrible. Emmitt Perry Sr is his name, and for most of Tyler’s life, he thought Perry Sr. was his biological father. Tyler admits that his father abused him physically and verbally, but provided for him despite the abuse. Tyler stated:
“As terrible as he was, and as horrible as he was, he never once left us. We were never hungry. And every time he’d go to work, all week, he’d bring all the money home,”.
Tyler says that it was his mom that convinced him to support the man. Tyler says he gets nothing more or less than a place to stay and food. Listen below.
