A 9 year old Houston girl was shot and killed by man that was scorned, because her mother broken up with him.

According to police, Jeremiah Jones, 22, was out on bond for evading police when he shot and killed Khylie Sorrells on Monday June 13th. The child’s mom Brittany Sorrells says she and her daughter were in bed watching a movie with her other daughters that are 1 and 7. She says Jones showed up at her apartment on Oxford Street just before 10 p.m.
Sorrells says that she had broken up with Jones two months ago after eight months of dating. When arrived to her home, he demanded that she give him a television that he thought was his. The two began arguing, and Jones came inside and ripped a television off the wall. Jones then demanded that Sorrells give him her phone. He believed she was dating other men and had become even more enraged when he found out she messaged someone.
KHOU11 reports that Jones ran back into the bedroom where Sorrells’ children were alone and fired two shots. He then allegedly returned to the living room, forced Sorrells to get on the floor and shot her in the shoulder, before speeding off in a Chevy Camaro.
Brittany ran to her children and found Khylie was on the floor and had been shot in the head. Her other two daughters were unharmed.
Court documents obtained by KPRC indicate that as recently as last week, Sorrells complained that Jones had threatened to shoot her dead. She also made four calls to the police about her ex-boyfriend within the past month.
Jones has an extensive criminal record stretching back a decade, including charges of theft and making terroristic threats.
He was arrested Tuesday and was taken into custody at 6 p.m. Tuesday by a SWAT team in Houston following a manhunt, the Houston Police Department said. He is being charged with counts of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was due in court Wednesday.
Sorrells is the ex girlfriend of music executive J Prince. He posted on his social media when Jones was on the run, to help cops find him, calling for the city of Houston to band together.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help with burial funds for Khylie.
