A few weeks ago comedian Hannibal Buress accused actor, comedian and activist Bill Cosby of being a serial rapist. Since then, his victims have used that platform to speak out and tell their story. 13 women so far have come forward. One of the alleged victims is actress Barbara Bowman, who met Cosby when she was a teenager . She says Cosby manipulated her in many ways. Barbara interviewed with The Daily Mail about the allegations and her words will shock you. She says,
“I was drugged and raped by that man. He is a monster. He came at me like a monster. My hope is that others who have experienced sexual abuse will not be intimidated into silence by the famous, rich and powerful. If I can help one victim, then I’ve done my job”
She says Cosby portrayed himself to be this righteous family man when she initially met him. Then 2 years later she was pinned down to a hotel bed being raped.
I’m finally revealing all of my full story in hopes that others will learn to read the tell-tale signs of abuse and not wait as long as I did. No one believed me for years. They said Bill would never do that. That it was preposterous. But I’m putting my name out there and standing behind these words, just like Burress. No more code of silence. I’ve been silent too long. It’s time to raise a fuss. I’m a real person that this happened to. And it’s taken decades to get over what he did to me. I thank Hannibal Burress for speaking out over and over again, despite the threats from the Industry that it could ruin his career. He is standing up for me and the other women who are too afraid to speak out.
Barbara says there are numerous other victims who were paid for there silence. Now I know us regular people can be fans of these celebrities and even go so far to “think” they are on the level of family, so we think they can do no wrong. I do not know if he is guilty or not, however, I will say we cannot put anything past anyone. We only know what we see, and that goes for our personal friends and family as well. We don’t really know the demons inside of a person, so to say “she is lying” or “that is not in his character”. How do you know what one does when they close that bedroom door? There are cases when spouses are caught off guard by an incident.
I am very familiar with sexual assault so I am not going to write her off just yet. I also know that women cry wolf for attention, spite and bitterness. Some women have ruined lives and careers with lies of being raped, so this is nothing to take lightly. I do think the truth needs to come out because I have no respect for liars and those who are out for revenge in spite, just as I have no respect for a coward who portrays himself as one on a pedestal but has the face of the devil under his skin. Both families are now going to be under pressure, public speculation and humiliation so really no one wins at this moment.
