Legendary poet, civil rights activist, actress, singer and author Maya Angelou has passed away. She died in her home in Winston Salem, NC. Her agent Helen Brann spoke to ABC News this morning.
“She’d been very frail and had heart problems, but she was going strong, finishing a new book,” Brann said. “I spoke to her yesterday. She was fine, as she always was. Her spirit was indomitable.”
Angelou will be honored at the MLB Beacon Awards luncheon in Houston on May 30, 2014. She was supposed to be a guest but canceled the appearance due to health issues.
