Today we have our first DJ feature under the Artist Spotlight. DJ Highlight aka Tommy Nichols was born July 27th 1986 in Pasadena Ca.
Growing up Tommy was more of the silent shy type, but he listened to music daily, such as Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. He then grew a passion for hip hop which he would soon pursue. After high school, he decided to start throwing parties. He would be the DJ and his brother Leeland Crockom would handle the guess list. The parties had major turn outs and were considered the best parties in Pasadena.
After having his beautiful daughter Janiyah Nichols, DJ Highlight decided to leave the music scene, to focus on being a great dad and raise his first child. In 2012 he returned to the music scene, and decided to put out his first DJ Mix tape with artist from all over. Read more about this artist below.
He has been on his grind, and released around 15 mix tapes in 2 years. DJ Highlight decided to expand his brand and now has a hit radio show called www.hiphoptalkz.com. In just 3 months, the number of listeners has increased to 14,500. That is very impressive. He decided to embark on this platform and interviews all up coming and mainstream hip hop and r&b artist in the area. Kind of like what we do here at Web Celeb Daily. He is also planning on taking the show around the world to show the world just how talented he is. I can definitely see that happening.
Just like every great radio show, at Hip Hop Talkz they record the interviews. I was able to watch a few to learn that he is a very down to earth person. He definitely makes the guests feel comfortable and he does his homework. I love that he is giving the upcoming artists chances to let the world hear their story. Now and days people want money in hand for everything and usually only deal with mainstream personalities. He isn’t just keeping it within music, he is allowing the hustlers out there to come on the show and promote their brand.
